Tip shape selection for fine pitch inspection
Needle ProbeDesigning Support
What are the caution points to note when selecting to use a needle probe for fine pitch inspection?
We recommend to select the tip shape depending on the inspection conditions.
<Selection by the inspected object surface>
Both F shape and NF shape are effective for solder balls; however, it may be the cause of contact failure by choosing F shape for test pads inspection when misalignment occurs.
<Selection by using 4 terminals to inspect>
Under the condition of 50 ㎛ for solder ball diameter and 86 ㎛ for solder ball pitch, we consider that “NP025-type” with the F shape is effective because edge of tip contacts to
If the array is narrow and misalignment occurs, there is a possibility of contact with the another solder ball.
In that case, the NF shape may solve the problem.
